Our Team of Support

Neurotopia Central Coast works as a team with three sides, like sides of a triangle. Each side has a unique and vital part to play. The three components are doctor, technician and client.

Dr. David Hixson received his Dr. of Chiropractic degree from the College of California Health Sciences in 1969.  He completed post graduate work in the field of Orthopedics and in 2003 Enzyme Nutrition from Loomis Institute of Enzyme Nutrition.  Since 2003 Dr. Hixson has supervised an integrated Medical office in Templeton.  Interest in the amazing brain, brought Dr. Hixson to Neurofeedback and it’s remarkable results in chronic health conditions.  In 2008 Dr. Hixson completed the EEG Institute Clinical Course In Neurofeedback and has been involved with Neurotopia since that time.  In early 2011 Neurotopia Inc. decided to specialize in Peak Performance (the world of Sports).  They wanted to continue the service of Neurofeedback on the central coast and thought Dr. Hixson would be the perfect fit to provide the professional and quality care needed.  Dr. Hixson is the new owner and our new name is now Neurotopia Central Coast.

Leslie Sherlin, PhD, QEEG-D, BCN, BCB - Dr. Sherlin holds the degrees of B.A. in Psychology, M.S. in Clinical Psychology and Ph.D in Psychology.  He is certified at the Diplomat Level in QEEG and is BCIA board certified in both biofeedback and neurofeedback. Dr. Sherlin additionally has the academic appointments of adjunct associate professor in the department of mind-body medicine at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine; faculty in the department of psychology at the University of Phoenix main campus; adjunct faculty in the department of psychology at Northern Arizona University; and clinical faculty at Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center. Dr Sherlin provides the QEEG evaluation analysis to the team of experts.

*Neurotopia Centreal Coast technicians have gone through extensive didactic professional training in neurofeedback and quantitative EEG.  Additionally they all have served a supervised practicum in one of Neurotopia's medical neurofeedback clinics.  The technicians carry out sessions and  serve as liasons between client and doctor.
*The client is responsible for a big part of the process.  Consistency and active participation in sessions are paramount.  We ask that the client provides honest feedback and maintains a positive attitude.  Furthermore, we ask clients to commit to developing and practicing positive behavioral habits to work on outside of the sessions.
